Asteroid 165612 Stackpole is a main belt asteroid which was discovered on March 23, 2001 by D. Healy at Junk Bond Observatory. It is named in honor of Michael Stackpole, a science fiction and fantasy author best known for his Star Wars and Battletech books.

Michael Stackpole (b. 1957), currently living in Arizona, is a prolific and popular science fiction author, as well as a popular advocate for science and rational thinking through his writing, media appearances and public speaking.
